ANN RICHARDS. Signature: “Ann Richards”, 3¼x5¼. When she was elected State Treasurer in 1982, Dorothy Ann (Willis) Richards (1933-2006) was the first woman elected to statewide Texas office in fifty years. She was Governor of Texas (1991-1995), defeated for re-election by future President George W. Bush, whose father she had ridiculed in her keynote speech to the Democratic National Convention in 1988. Slightly creased with fold, horizontal fold at the upper loop of the “A” in Ann and the lower portions of the “Ri” of Richards. Light stains touch the “A” and the upper loop of the “R”.
