OK, well, in the case of Governor Miriam A. “Ma” Ferguson, I guess the Texas accent pretty much does denote just what the Yankees think it does.
I’ll let Ma speak for herself (one of my favorite boneheaded quotes of all time):
“If the King’s English was good enough for Jesus, it’s good enough for me!”
That just speaks so well for the Texas public school system, don’t you think?
