If you ever hear a Texan say “They think he (or she) hung the moon,” pay attention. It means that someone believes the person in question is all things good and wonderful (and beyond criticism). To them, the person they think hung the moon is just peachy perfect and can do no wrong.
So be sure that you never criticize the moon-hanger in the hearing of his or her admirers. Things could get ugly real quick. And don’t even bother trying to compete with the person who hung the moon.
